Robinson Cano’s two-run double in the top of the 15th inning helped the New York Yankees outlast the Baltimore Orioles 4-1 on Wednesday night in the longest major league game this season.
After leaving runners stranded in scoring position in each of the three previous innings, New York tagged reliever Jeremy Accardo (2-1) for two hits to lead off the 15th before Cano ripped a liner off Mike Gonzalez.
Hector Noesi (1-0) earned the win in his major league debut for New York, which remained undefeated in five games against Baltimore.
The Orioles had plenty of chances themselves, leaving the bases loaded in the 12th through 14th innings. Both teams combined to leave 29 men on base.
