Orioles 2, Yankees 0 (1st)
Rookie Zach Britton threw seven scoreless innings and the Baltimore Orioles won their sixth consecutive game with a 2-0 victory over the visiting New York Yankees on Sunday in the first game of a doubleheader.
Vlad Guerrero and J.J. Hardy had RBI singles to help Baltimore send the Yankees to their fifth loss in the last seven games. Hardy's eighth-inning single extended his hitting streak to 10 games.
Britton (8-9) won his second straight start following a five-game losing streak. He scattered four singles and struck out five to avenge a beating at the hands of the Yankees on July 30, when he was battered for nine runs in one-third of an inning.
Orioles closer Kevin Gregg earned his 19th save and completed the first shutout of New York since June 13 against Cleveland.
Bartolo Colon (8-9) lost his third straight start despite his longest outing since May 30. He gave up two runs on seven hits in 7 2/3 innings.
Derek Jeter played in his 2,402nd game, passing Mickey Mantle for the most in Yankees history. New York's Robinson Cano had his hitting streak snapped at 17 games.
