Cardinals 6, Brewers 0
Jaime Garcia took a perfect game into the eighth inning, and Albert Pujols drove in three runs to lead the St. Louis Cardinals to a 6-0 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday in the opener of a three-game series at Busch Stadium.
Garcia (4-0) didn't allow a baserunner until he walked Casey McGehee with one out in the eighth, and he surrendered his first hit one batter later as Yuniesky Betancourt sharply grounded one through the left side of the infield. But Corey Hart grounded into a double play to end the inning and preserve the shutout.
Rickie Weeks had a two-out double in the ninth for the only other hit against Garcia, who struck out eight in his second shutout of the season.
Cardinals outfielder Matt Holliday, who leads the majors in batting, went 1-for-4 with an RBI double to drop to .410.
Yadier Molina went 2-for-4 with his second home run, and Colby Rasmus was 2-for-3 with an RBI triple for the Cardinals, who have won seven of 10.
Randy Wolf (3-3) allowed six runs on seven hits over five innings to take the loss for the Brewers, who have lost seven straight.
