Pablo Sandoval had three hits, and Ryan Vogelsong won his fourth straight decision as the San Francisco Giants defeated the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers 5-0 on Monday.

Sandoval hit a leadoff homer to right in the fourth off Chad Billingsley (8-8) to start the Giants toward their eighth victory in 10 games.

Vogelsong (7-1) pitched 6 2/3 shutout innings. He allowed seven hits, one walk and struck out five to help send the Dodgers to their third straight loss.

Jeremy Affeldt and Ramon Ramirez combined for 2 1/3 hitless innings to complete the shutout, the 10th time Los Angeles has been blanked this season.

San Francisco tallied four times and had six hits in the sixth to break the game open. The first run was plated on consecutive singles by Mike Fontenot, Sandoval and Nate Schierholtz. One out later, Cody Ross delivered a two-run double to deep right-center to make it 4-0. Ross scored on a run-scoring single by Brandon Crawford.

Billingsley yielded five runs and nine hits in 5 1/3 innings.
