Dodgers 3, Giants 0

Dana Eveland tossed seven scoreless innings and the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers moved to .500 for the first time since May 2 with a 3-0 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Saturday.

San Francisco fell 9 1/2 games behind Arizona in the National League West with 17 to play. The Dodgers have won 15 of their last 18 games to move two behind the Giants in the loss column.

After giving up one run over eight innings against the Pirates in his first start with the Dodgers on Sept. 1, Eveland (2-0) limited the Giants to three hits with just one walk.

Javy Guerra struck out Pat Burrell with two men on in the bottom of the ninth for his 18th save.

Giants starter Ryan Vogelsong (10-7) was again the victim of poor run support after giving up three runs over eight innings. He’s lost five straight starts while receiving a total of three runs during that span.

The Giants have averaged less than three runs per game since the All-Star break, and they managed only five hits against the Dodgers.

San Francisco is on pace for the National League’s worst post-All-Star break offense since the 1974 Padres averaged 2.75 runs per game.
