Diamondbacks 5, Padres 0
Aaron Hill’s run-scoring double capped a four-run first inning and the Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the visiting San Diego Padres 5-0 on Friday for their fourth straight victory.
Arizona, which recorded its 11th shutout of the season, remained three games ahead of San Francisco in the National League West.
The Diamondbacks sent eight batters to the plate in the first and took advantage of two Nick Hundley errors.
Arizona rookie Josh Collmenter (8-8) gave up six hits over 5 1/3 innings, and the Diamondbacks tied their season-high for stolen bases with four.
Wade LeBlanc (2-3) allowed five runs - four earned - over four innings as San Diego has lost back-to-back games after winning a season-high five straight.
San Diego tied a season-high with three errors, but Cameron Maybin turned in the defensive play of the game when he robbed Paul Goldschmidt of extra bases with a catch at the center field wall.
