Dodgers 6, Giants 1
Clayton Kershaw continued his dominance over San Francisco with 6 2/3 scoreless innings as the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Giants 6-1 on Monday.
Kershaw (2-1) has not allowed a run over his last 23 2/3 innings against San Francisco, including seven scoreless innings opening day. He gave up six hits, walked two and struck out seven Monday.
Giants starter Madison Bumgarner (0-2) had his second straight rocky outing, giving up five runs on eight hits and four walks over 5 2/3 innings.
After James Loney singled home a run in the first, Rod Barajas started a big inning in the fifth with a solo home run. With one out, Andre Ethier and Matt Kemp had back-to-back singles that brought in three and gave Los Angeles a 5-0 cushion. The Dodgers added an insurance run in the sixth when Ethier’s single scored Aaron Miles.
Pat Burrell led off the ninth inning with a solo shot off Mike MacDougal and the left-field foul pole for his fourth home run of the season. Burrell finished 2-for-2 with two walks.
Prior to the game, both teams participated in a ceremony against fan violence in response to the beating of Giants fan Bryan Stow in Los Angeles on March 31.
