Twins 5, Royals 2
Carl Pavano pitched his first complete game of the season and the Minnesota Twins won consecutive games for the first time in two weeks with Friday’s 5-2 victory at Kansas City.
Michael Cuddyer homered and Denard Span added a two-run double to back Pavano (3-5), who won for the first time since April 24. He retired 10 in a row at one point before Billy Butler singled with two outs in the eighth. The righthander allowed two runs and nine hits after entering with a career ERA of 6.55 in 14 games against the Royals.
The Twins also beat the Royals on Thursday, marking the first time they’ve won at least two straight since they won three in a row May 17-19.
Kansas City rookie starter Danny Duffy (0-1) allowed three runs in five innings. The Royals have lost 15 of their last 20.
