Royals 2, Twins 1
Eric Hosmer hit a two-run homer with two outs in the top of the ninth inning to lead the Kansas City Royals to a 2-1 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Friday night.
Twins closer Matt Capps (2-5) allowed a leadoff walk to Melky Cabrera but retired the next two hitters before Hosmer drilled a 0-1 pitch over the center field wall.
Joakim Soria allowed a pair of hits in the ninth but held on to save it for Tim Collins (4-4), who pitched a scoreless eighth.
Hosmer's homer took a win away from Twins starter Nick Blackburn, who pitched seven shutout innings and did not allow a runner past second base. Blackburn allowed four hits.
Joe Nathan tossed a scoreless eighth before Capps blew his seventh save.
The Twins scored in the fourth when Ben Revere led off with an infield single, stole second, moved to third on a groundout and came home on Luke Hochevar's two-out wild pitch.
Hochevar allowed three hits in seven innings.
