Giants 6, Rockies 3
Jonathan Sanchez outdueled Ubaldo Jimenez and Pablo Sandoval hit a three-run homer as the visiting San Francisco Giants topped the Colorado Rockies, 6-3, on Tuesday.
Aubrey Huff added a solo shot and Buster Posey singled in a run for the Giants, who have won six of seven to move within two games of Colorado in the NL West.
Sanchez got all the support he would need in the first inning when San Francisco welcomed Jimenez back from the disabled list with four runs. Jimenez, who was out with a cut cuticle on his right thumb, hit Aaron Rowand leading off the game and gave up a single to Freddy Sanchez.
Posey followed a batter later with an RBI single in front of Sandoval, who lifted his fifth homer deep to right to complete the rally.
Sanchez (2-1) allowed a leadoff double to Dexter Fowler in the first but would not surrender another hit until the seventh. The lefthander ended up getting charged with three runs - two earned - and two hits while striking out four in 6 1/3 frames.
Jimenez (0-1) was pulled after five frames and charged with four runs on six hits.
Brian Wilson worked the ninth for his fifth save.
