Rockies 10, Giants 2
Ty Wigginton homered and drove in four and Ryan Spilborghs added a three-run blast, as the Colorado Rockies avoided a home sweep with a 10-2 victory over Matt Cain and the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday.
Troy Tulowitzki doubled twice and scored three runs and Seth Smith plated two for the Rockies, who broke out after managing a total of four runs against Tim Lincecum and Jonathan Sanchez in the first two games of the series.
Cain (2-1) could not match his teammates, surrendering four runs in the second inning as Colorado jumped out to the lead. Smith knotted it at 1-1 with his RBI single in front of Wigginton, who sent a sent a 1-1 pitch over the wall in left for a three-run blast.
That was plenty of support for Jorge De La Rosa (3-0), who struck out six while allowing two runs and four hits in seven frames.
The Rockies put it away with another rally in the seventh, sparked again by an RBI single from Smith and capped when Spilborghs sent his second of the season out to right-center off Guillermo Mota.
