Giants 3, Rockies 1

Matt Cain allowed one run over seven innings and the San Francisco Giants opened a 10-game homestand with a 3-1 win over the visiting Colorado Rockies on Friday.

Cain (4-4) struck out seven and gave up four hits with four walks for the Giants, who have won four of their last five. Brian Wilson worked around two base runners in the ninth inning for his 16th save.

Cody Ross and Brandon Crawford knocked in the Giants’ three runs in the fourth inning with back-to-back two-out doubles.

Juan Nicasio (1-1) gave up three runs on nine hits over six innings in his second major league start.

After going a major league-worst 8-21 in May, the Colorado Rockies were looking to begin June with consecutive victories. The Rockies loaded the bases in the fifth, but Todd Helton grounded out to the pitcher to end their best threat of the game.
