Angels 6, Mariners 3
Vernon Wells belted two homers and drove in three runs to power the visiting Los Angeles Angels to a 6-3 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Monday night.
Dan Haren (6-4) went six innings, allowing three runs on seven hits. He struck out seven and did not walk a batter to help Los Angeles win for only the second time in nine games.
Wells, who had missed almost a month with a groin injury before coming off the disabled list last week, had a solo homer in the third and a go-ahead, two-run blast in the seventh.
Jordan Walden followed two scoreless innings by Rich Thompson and Scott Downs for his 15th save.
Howie Kendrick and Bobby Abreu each had a pair of hits and an RBI as Los Angeles scored more than three runs for the second time this month.
Mariners starter Jason Vargas (4-4) was tagged for five runs on six hits in seven innings.
Ichiro Suzuki had his third straight two-hit game and Adam Kennedy, Franklin Gutierrez and Brendan Ryan drove in runs for Seattle.
