Angels 4, Mariners 2

Alberto Callaspo ripped a two-run double to snap a tie in the eighth inning and Dan Haren came within one out of a complete game as the Los Angeles Angels won capped a four-game sweep with a 4-2 home triumph over the Seattle Mariners on Sunday.

Howie Kendrick saw his career-high 18-game hitting streak come to an end following an 0-for-3 effort. He was intentionally walked in the eighth inning and came around to score on Callaspo's double.

Mark Trumbo belted his third homer in as many days with a two-run shot in the fourth inning. Trumbo now leads all rookies with 17 homers, one ahead of Danny Espinosa of the Washington Nationals.

Haren (10-5) collected his fourth straight win after allowing two runs on five hits while striking out eight. All-Star Jordan Walden fanned Franklin Gutierrez to secure his 20th save of the season.

The victory was the 19th in 25 games for Los Angeles, which remained one game behind American League West-leading Texas heading into the All-Star break. The Rangers posted a 2-0 victory over the Oakland Athletics earlier on Sunday.

Adam Kennedy had a two-run single in the first inning for Seattle, which has lost five in a row overall and 16 of its last 18 on the road against the Angels.

David Pauley (5-3) relieved reigning American League Cy Young Award winner Felix Hernandez and promptly permitted two runs on as many hits in two-thirds of an inning.
