Twins 4, Royals 3 (10)

Danny Valencia hit a walk-off RBI single in the 10th inning and the Minnesota Twins snapped a two-game losing streak with a 4-3 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday.

Luke Hughes drove in a pair of runs, Michael Cuddyer snapped out of a season-long slump by going 4-for-4 and Joe Mauer added a sacrifice fly for Minnesota (4-6), which registered a season-high 13 hits. The Twins entered the night with the second-worst batting average in baseball (.214).

Wilson Betemit, Mike Aviles and Melky Cabrera each drove in a run for Kansas City (6-4), which has lost 14 of the last 19 meetings between the teams.

The Twins' bullpen threw four perfect innings before Delmon Young sparked the winning rally with a one-out single off Robinson Tejada (0-1). Cuddyer drew a four-pitch walk and Jason Kubel’s single to right field loaded the bases for Valencia, who scored pinch-runner Jason Repko with a single to right field.

Valencia’s hit made a winner out of Dusty Hughes (1-0), who was claimed off waivers from Kansas City in the off-season.
