Twins 3, White Sox 2

Jason Kubel drove in a pair of runs and Nick Blackburn led a solid pitching effort as the Minnesota Twins completed a two-game sweep with a 3-2 victory over the White Sox in Chicago on Wednesday afternoon.

Blackburn (2-4) followed up Francisco Liriano's no-hitter Tuesday by lasting 6 2/3 innings and giving up one run and four hits while walking four.

White Sox starter John Danks (0-5) remained winless, allowing three runs in eight effective innings. He scattered eight hits and walked three.

Kubel, whose homer was the only run in Tuesday's game, put the Twins in front with an RBI single in the first inning. Chicago’s Alex Rios tied the game at 1-1 with a third-inning solo home run, his third in five days after going homerless until April 30.

Minnesota regained the lead with two runs in the sixth against Danks on a sacrifice fly by Kubel and a run-scoring single by Rene Tosoni.

Paul Konerko brought the White Sox back to within one on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth, but Matt Capps was able to navigate the final 1 2/3 innings for his fifth save.

Chicago put two runners on against Capps with one out in the ninth inning, but Omar Vizquel and Juan Pierre both flied out to right field to end it.
