White Sox 5, Twins 3
Carlos Quentin homered twice and Mark Buehrle pitched eight strong innings as the Chicago White Sox halted a six-game losing streak with a 5-3 victory over the host Minnesota Twins on Friday.
After Minnesota scored three unearned runs in the first for a 3-1 lead, Quentin put Chicago ahead with a solo shot in the third and a two-run blast two innings later. It was the fourth multi-homer effort of the year for Quentin, who also plated a run with a grounder in the first.
Buehrle (9-5) allowed four hits and struck out three to improve to 3-0 in his last eight starts. The lefthander has surrendered three runs or less in 17 consecutive outings.
Chris Sale worked a scoreless ninth for his third save in four chances.
Nick Blackburn (7-9) yielded four runs and seven hits in 5 1/3 innings. He also walked six en route to his third straight loss.
Jason Kubel hit a two-run homer for the Twins, who have lost five of six.
