White Sox 6, Twins 1
Brent Lillibridge belted a two-run homer and Zach Stewart had an impressive debut with his new team as the Chicago White Sox recorded a 6-1 triumph over the host Minnesota Twins on Saturday.
Paul Konerko drove in a pair of runs and Alex Rios collected three hits for Chicago, which has won two straight games against Minnesota after losing seven of the first eight meetings this season.
Acquired from Toronto on July 27, Stewart (1-1) allowed one run and eight hits in 6 1/3 innings en route to his first major-league victory. The 24-year-old, who went 0-1 in three starts for the Blue Jays, was recalled from the minors earlier in the day.
The White Sox carried a 2-1 lead into the ninth before erupting for four runs. Lillibridge, who entered the game as a defensive replacement the previous inning, highlighted the rally with his eighth homer of the season.
Carl Pavano (6-9) suffered his first loss in three decisions against Chicago this season despite yielding only two runs - one earned - over eight innings.
Danny Valencia drove in the lone run for Minnesota, which has lost six of seven.
