White Sox 7, Twins 0
Jake Peavy pitched eight shutout innings on Sunday and won for the first time in more than a month in Chicago’s 7-0 triumph over Minnesota at Target Field.
Peavy (5-5) allowed three hits and struck out six and reversed a trend of ineffective starts; Peavy had been 0-4 with a 6.11 ERA since his last victory on June 25.
Matt Thornton closed the game with a scoreless ninth inning.
The White Sox slugged four homers and ensured their first three-game sweep at Minnesota since 2004. Alexei Ramirez, Paul Konerko, Alex Rios and Brent Lillibridge all went deep for Chicago.
Two of the homers came off Minnesota starter Brian Duensing (8-10), who allowed five runs in 6 1/3 innings.
