Diamondbacks 4, Dodgers 3
Cody Ransom slammed a go-ahead two-run homer in the seventh inning and the host Arizona Diamondbacks snapped a three-game losing streak with a 4-3 victory over the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday.
Collin Cowgill singled with one out and Ransom followed with his first homer of the season to erase Clayton Kershaw’s lead and help Ian Kennedy (14-3) match Philadelphia’s Roy Halladay for the National League lead in victories.
Kennedy allowed three runs and six hits in seven innings while winning his sixth straight start. David Hernandez pitched a perfect eighth and J.J. Putz worked a flawless ninth for his 26th save.
Kershaw (13-5) gave up four runs and five hits in 6 1/3 innings and had a five-start winning streak snapped. He struck out seven to raise his league-leading total to 184.
Los Angeles took a 3-2 lead in the sixth on Juan Rivera’s run-scoring single. The Dodgers tied the score earlier in the frame on Andre Ethier’s double.
Arizona’s Ryan Roberts drew a leadoff walk in the first and Kelly Johnson followed with a two-run homer.
James Loney hit a leadoff homer in the fifth for Los Angeles.
