Giants 8, Padres 4

Tim Lincecum allowed only three hits and struck out 13 in seven innings Wednesday as San Francisco beat San Diego 8-4 at Petco Park.

Lincecum (1-1) bounced back after losing the season opener when he allowed only an unearned run in a 1-0 loss to Los Angeles, and gave up only one run on Nick Hundley’s solo homer in the third. Hundley was the only San Diego starter who did not strike out against Lincecum, who fanned six of the first seven and fell two strikeouts short of matching his career best.

The Giants (2-4) took a lead it would not relinquish the first inning. The three-run inning began with a one-out triple by Freddy Sanchez, who scored on Aubrey Huff’s double. Buster Posey then cleaned the bases with his first homer of the season, a blast to left off Padres starter Tim Stauffer (0-1), who yielded four runs and eight hits in 4 2/3 innings.

Posey added a two-run single in the sixth and Huff finished with three hits and three RBI for the defending world champions.

San Diego (3-2) rallied in the ninth for three runs against San Francisco closer Brian Wilson, who was making his first appearance of the season. Wilson gave up two hits and a walk in two-thirds of an inning before leaving. Jeremy Affeldt allowed two hits and a walk without retiring a batter before Ramon Ramirez retired Rob Johnson on a fly to center field with the bases loaded to end the game to earn an improbable save.
