Padres 5, Giants 3

Cameron Maybin delivered a two-run, go-ahead triple in the sixth inning as the San Diego Padres continued their torrid play with a 5-3 victory over the host San Francisco Giants on Tuesday.

Tim Stauffer (5-5) gave up three runs (two earned) and eight hits in six innings for his third straight victory as San Diego won for the 10th time in 13 games.

Heath Bell worked out of a ninth-inning jam for his 26th save as the Padres beat San Francisco for the second straight day and notched their 12th victory in their last 15 contests at AT&T Park.

Maybin, who went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, gave the Padres a 4-3 lead with the two-out triple to left-center off Matt Cain (7-5). Anthony Rizzo followed with a single to score Maybin.

San Francisco had taken a 3-2 lead in the fourth on Cain’s RBI single to center.

Maybin also drove in a run in the second on an infield out.

Cain gave up five runs and seven hits while losing for the first time since May 29. Cain struck out six and walked one as his personal four-game winning streak ended.

Giants third baseman Pablo Sandoval extended his hitting streak to 16 games.
