Blue Jays 4, Orioles 1
Ricky Romero pitched eight shutout innings and matched a career high with 12 strikeouts as the Toronto Blue Jays continued their home dominance against Baltimore on Wednesday with a 4-1 triumph over the Orioles.
Romero (6-6) allowed three hits and walked four as Toronto won its 16th straight home game against Baltimore.
Romero retired the first nine batters he faced and remained in control until the ninth, when he issued back-to-back walks and was pulled after throwing 114 pitches. Frank Francisco came on and allowed an RBI single to Matt Wieters, but shut the Orioles down the rest of the way for his sixth save.
Adam Lind led the way offensively with a two-run homer, his 13th of the season and sixth in the past 10 games. Lind is 16-for-35 with 14 RBIs during that stretch.
Yunel Escobar and Juan Rivera each added a solo homer off losing pitcher Jake Arrieta (8-4), who surrendered three runs on nine hits over 6 2/3 innings.
