Blue Jays 5, Orioles 4

Brett Lawrie had two hits and an RBI in his major-league debut, leading the Toronto Blue Jays past the host Baltimore Orioles 5-4 Friday night.

Lawrie, Toronto's top prospect, was recalled Thursday in a major roster shuffle. The 21-year-old third baseman didn't look out of place Friday, finishing with a pair of singles while hitting out of the ninth spot in the order.

Yunel Escobar added a pair of hits and an RBI in the victory, improving to .370 (27-for-73) since the All-Star Break. Colby Rasmus had two hits and drove in a run as well, but injured himself trying to score in the eighth inning and was replaced in center field by Rajai Davis.

Adam Jones had the big blow for the Orioles with a two-run homer in the first that gave Baltimore its only lead of the game.

Toronto starter Brad Mills (1-1) earned the win, allowing three runs on four hits over 5 1/3 innings. He walked four and struck out five.

Jon Rauch, who blew a 10th-inning lead a night earlier, allowed a run in the ninth inning but held on for his 11th save.

Baltimore's Tommy Hunter (1-2), making his first start since being acquired by the Orioles at the trade deadline, was tagged for four runs on eight hits over four innings.
