Rangers 11, Angels 7
Nelson Cruz homered twice and drove in six runs as the American League West-leading Rangers topped the second-place Los Angeles Angels 11-7 on Friday in Texas.
The Rangers, who extended their division lead to three games and snapped the Angels' six-game winning streak, jumped ahead to stay in the second inning on a two-run double by Cruz, who added a solo homer in the fourth and a three-run shot in the sixth to give Texas an 11-0 lead.
David Murphy's grand slam in the fifth against Dan Haren (13-7) put Texas ahead 7-0.
Derek Holland (12-5) allowed one run, eight hits and struck out eight in 6 2/3 innings. Haren gave up seven runs and 11 hits in 4 1/3 innings.
Russell Branyan hit a three-run homer in the eighth and Howie Kendrick added a two-run shot in the ninth for the Angels, who surrendered 18 hits.
Cruz finished 4-for-5, while Murphy and Michael Young had three hits apiece.
