Angels 8, Rangers 4
Rookie Mike Trout and Bobby Wilson belted back-to-back homers, and Vernon Wells, Peter Bourjos and Howie Kendrick also went deep as the Los Angeles Angels slugged their way to an 8-4 victory over the host Texas Rangers on Saturday.
Wells had an RBI triple, and Torii Hunter and Erick Aybar added run-scoring singles for Los Angeles, which has won seven of eight and moved back within two games of Texas in the American League West.
Ervin Santana (10-9), pitching on three days' rest, yielded four runs for the third straight outing. He also allowed four hits in seven innings to secure his seventh win in eight decisions.
Scott Downs worked a scoreless eighth and Hisanori Takahashi worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the ninth to preserve the victory.
David Murphy homered for the second straight contest and former Angel Mike Napoli had an RBI single for Texas, which has lost six of its last eight games.
C.J. Wilson (13-6) saw his three-game winning streak come to an end after permitting six runs on 10 hits in five innings.
